Barclay Wholesale was originally established in 1978, when Lloyd Barclay purchased a piece of business from Reg Armstrong in Mildmay.  L. A. Barclay Wholesale Ltd. was formally established in March 1983 and was located in downtown Tara.  As the business grew it eventually moved to the Brook Street location in Tara in 1987. 

L.A. Barclay was then sold to Bruce and Sherry Funston in 1997 and operated it for 13 years. 

On September 17, 2010, Scott and Mary-Lynn Cumming purchased L. A. Barclay Wholesale Ltd. and in February of 2011, it was moved to 809 Concession 10, at the home of Scott and Mary-Lynn where it is still located today. 

In 2016, we created our first ever Barclay Wholesale logo and created branding for Barclay Wholesale, which gave us an identity. 

In May 2018, A. W. Sills out of Flesherton, ON, was purchased and it was incorporated into the business at the Dobbinton location.  After that merge, an expansion of our warehouse facility was necessary and was completed in March of 2019, which doubled the existing building.  Following that in June 2019, TAC Distributing (formerly KC Distributing) out of Owen Sound was purchased and incorporated into the Dobbinton location as well. 

As the business continued to grow, more help was needed.  We currently have 7 employees and consider ourselves very fortunate to have the best employees going!  We could not do this without them!

We, at Barclay Wholesale, have worked very hard to built a reputation for providing excellent customer service which means more than just free delivery and competitive pricing on the best products available in the industry.  We are committed to the environment and carry many lines of environmentally friendly products including take out packaging and chemicals.

Barclay Wholesale continues to be a Canadian company, locally owned and family operated business.
